Ranchi Committee Greenlights 2024-25 Mid-Day Meal Budget; Focus on Timely Distribution

RANCHI – The Ranchi District Level Steering cum Monitoring Committee convened to strategize the PM Nutrition Scheme’s execution.
A budget cum action plan for the mid-day meal program for the financial year 2024-25 was a key focus of the meeting.
The committee sanctioned Rs 41.64 crore for the mid-day meal scheme in Ranchi district for 2024-25.
Enhancing the attendance of students, which stood at 75.12% in November 2023, is a primary goal of this scheme.
Over 168,000 children benefited from the mid-day meal program in November 2023.
Issues such as unclean surroundings at Anand Nagar Harmu’s upgraded primary school due to tethered animals were addressed.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s Assistant Administrator pledged to resolve the cleanliness issue at the school.
The meeting highlighted the delay in rice distribution for the scheme’s first and second quarters.
Ensuring timely delivery of mid-day meals to students was emphasized as a crucial part of the program.
The scheme covers 2128 schools, including primary, middle, high, and model schools.
Notable attendees included Nodal Officer Mrs. Deepti Kumari, District Supply Officer Pradeep Bhagat, and other key education and welfare officials.
