South Eastern Railway Reports Strong Start to FY 2024-25 With Increased Freight Loading

Significant Growth in Iron Ore and Coal Loading Boosts SER’s Performance

South Eastern Railway (SER) has shown a promising start to the financial year 2024-25, with a notable increase in originating freight loading during April and May.

JAMSHEDPUR – South Eastern Railway (SER) has recorded a substantial increase in originating freight loading for the months of April and May 2024, continuing its momentum from the previous fiscal year’s record-breaking performance of 211.60 million tonnes.

In the first two months of the current fiscal year, SER loaded a total of 34.91 million tonnes of freight.

This includes 18.05 million tonnes of iron ore, reflecting a 3.85% rise compared to the same period last year.

Coal loading also saw a growth of 2.17%, with 8.96 million tonnes loaded during this period.

Other key commodities that contributed to the increased freight loading include pig iron and finished steel, cement, food grains, and fertilizers.

In addition to the increase in freight loading, SER has also seen a rise in originating freight revenue.

There was a 2.98% increase in revenue during April-May 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

The revenue generated from originating freight loading reached Rs 3166.66 crore, up from Rs 3076.13 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

This robust performance highlights SER’s continued growth and efficiency in freight operations.

The railway’s focus on optimizing loading operations and improving supply chain management has contributed significantly to these impressive figures.

Passengers and stakeholders are encouraged to stay updated with SER’s performance and developments as it continues to enhance its service capabilities and operational efficiencies.
