JAMSHEDPUR – Preparations for the national conference on rivers and mountains in Jamshedpur have been completed. The conference will begin on Friday, May 22, from 10 AM at the auditorium of Motilal Nehru Public School in Sakchi.
The event will witness the presence of retired Supreme Court judge V. Gopala Gowda, water conservationist Rajendra Singh, Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, noted environmentalist Dinesh Mishra, Dr. Gopal Sharma, B. Satyanarayana, Bibhuti Debbarma, Arun Kumar Shukla, Yugantar Bharti president Anshul Sharan, Indian Forest Service officer Siddharth Tripathi, and Amity University Vice Chancellor Professor Piyush Kant Pandey along with several experts working on rivers and mountain conservation.
The conference will be jointly inaugurated by Justice V. Gopala Gowda and Rajendra Singh. According to conference patron Saryu Roy, the inaugural session will continue from 10 AM to 12 PM, followed by a technical session from 12 PM to 2 PM focusing on mountain and water conservation, environmental protection, and the need for a conservation law framework.
Roy stated that another technical session will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM where experts will discuss the draft framework for mountain conservation laws. Around 12 specialists will participate in the group discussion and suggest additions and amendments to the proposed framework.
The third technical session will take place from 5:45 PM to 7:45 PM and will feature presentations and panel discussions involving 10 panelists.
Notably, the two-day national conference is being jointly organized by Yugantar Bharti, Swarnarekha Area Development Trust, Tarun Bharat Sangh, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Jal Biradari, Nature Foundation, and Mission Y.
Several delegates have already arrived in Jamshedpur, while many others are expected to reach the city by Thursday evening. A commemorative souvenir will also be released during the event.
