Shocking Incident in Patna City Leaves Entire Family Battling for Life
PATNA – A horrifying incident has surfaced from Patna City area where a son-in-law allegedly crossed all limits of brutality and set his wife, minor child, mother-in-law and father-in-law on fire following a family dispute. The shocking incident took place on Wednesday morning at a house located in Raja Babu Khatu Shyam Gali.
According to police, the accused allegedly poured petrol or another inflammable substance on the victims before setting them ablaze and fleeing from the spot. Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing screams and seeing flames coming out from inside the building. All four victims were rescued in critical condition and immediately shifted to hospital for treatment.
Patna City SDPO-2 said that during preliminary investigation, family members accused the son-in-law of carrying out the attack. Police are investigating all possible angles and scanning CCTV footage installed in nearby lanes to trace the accused. Officials claimed that the accused would be arrested soon.
The condition inside the house indicated that a major altercation had taken place before the incident. Household items were found scattered across the room, while a bag recovered from the scene raised suspicion that the accused may have come prepared or tried to collect belongings after the attack.
House owner Govind Agrawal said that his father Purushottam Agrawal, mother Neelam Devi, wife Munni Devi and a small child suffered severe burn injuries in the fire incident.
The narrow lanes of the locality created major hurdles during the rescue operation as fire tenders and large vehicles could not enter the area. However, local residents and youths showed courage and helped police rescue the victims before rushing them to hospital.
All the injured have been admitted to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), where doctors said a major portion of their bodies had been burnt and their condition remains extremely critical. They are currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors in the intensive care unit.
Patna City SDPO-2 Gaurav Kumar reached the spot with a heavy police force. Considering the seriousness of the case, police also called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to collect evidence from the scene, including burnt remains and other samples. The fire also caused heavy damage to the house.
