JAMSHEDPUR – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and ex-Odisha Governor Raghubar Das expressed deep sorrow over a recent natural disaster in Nepal, paying tribute to those who lost their lives. He conveyed condolences to bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the calamity.
Speaking to reporters, Das said natural disasters were a matter of concern not just for one country but for humanity as a whole. He expressed solidarity with those affected in Nepal, adding that India has consistently stood by its neighbouring countries during times of crisis and would continue to do so.
Das commended the efforts undertaken by the Indian government to support relief and rescue operations in Nepal. He said the central government was continuously working to deliver assistance to affected people and restore normalcy in the disaster-hit areas, expressing confidence that relief would soon reach affected families.
Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister placed particular emphasis on the need for environmental conservation during his remarks. He argued that striking a balance between economic development and environmental protection remains among the most pressing needs of the present time. According to Das, deforestation, excessive exploitation of water resources and unplanned development activities have disrupted nature’s balance, contributing to climate change and natural disasters.
Das appealed to citizens to become more conscious of environmental protection and commit to the responsible use of natural resources. He said adopting a path of balanced development alongside nature was essential to secure the future of coming generations.
His remarks come amid heightened regional attention to natural disasters and infrastructure vulnerabilities. Neighbouring Bihar recently witnessed a major accident when a speeding bus rammed into an orchestra event in Bettiah, underscoring ongoing safety concerns across the region.
