RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the implementation of the Jharkhand Employee Health Insurance Plan, aiming to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage for state employees and their families.

Proposal and Features of the Plan

The plan, drafted by the Department of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, resolves earlier errors that delayed its implementation. It proposes ₹5 lakh annual coverage for employees, retirees, and their dependents, with additional ₹5 lakh for critical illnesses.

Beneficiaries include employees of the state services, retirees, and their dependents, such as spouses, children up to 25 years (if unemployed), unmarried or widowed daughters, minor siblings, and dependent parents earning less than ₹9,000 monthly.

Critical Illness Coverage and Corporate Buffer

For severe medical cases, beneficiaries can access coverage up to ₹10 lakh. The scheme includes a ₹50 crore Corporate Buffer fund for extended support, ensuring financial aid for expensive treatments. Additionally, a Corpus Fund will address costs exceeding insured amounts.

Implementation Plans

The plan awaits Cabinet approval for final implementation. Officials confirmed the inclusion of lifelong benefits for dependents with disabilities, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access.
