MLA’s Driver Killed in Land Dispute Violence in Koderma; Three Family Members Injured

Koderma MLA Dr. Neera Yadav Questions Police Inaction after Prior Complaints Were Ignored

Key Points:

  • Rajkumar Yadav, driver of Koderma MLA Dr. Neera Yadav, murdered in Chitarpur village
  • MLA alleges police ignored prior complaints; three family members critically injured
  • Accused still at large; police conducting raids at multiple locations

KODERMA — Rajkumar Yadav, the personal vehicle driver of Koderma MLA Dr. Neera Yadav, was murdered during a violent land dispute clash in Chitarpur village under Koderma police station area, leaving three of his family members critically injured.

The deceased’s daughter Sonika Kumari, mother Sudha Devi, and father Dasharath Yadav were all seriously hurt during the attack. All three injured family members were undergoing treatment at the local Sadar Hospital at the time of this report.

The killing took place late at night. According to information available, Rajkumar Yadav was attacked from behind by members of the opposing party in the land dispute. The assault proved fatal.

On receiving the news, MLA Dr. Neera Yadav rushed to the spot. She met the bereaved family and inquired about the condition of the injured. Moreover, she expressed deep grief over the killing. “Rajkumar Yadav was not merely my driver,” she said, according to those present. “He was like a member of my own family.”

However, her anguish soon turned to anger over what she called a failure of the police. Dr. Neera Yadav alleged that multiple complaints had been filed with authorities before the incident. In addition, she claimed that the deceased’s mother had been allegedly mistreated by members of the opposing side prior to the murder. The MLA had herself telephoned Koderma police station in-charge Vikas Paswan to report the threat.

On the other hand, police inaction in the face of prior complaints has been a recurring grievance in Jharkhand. Despite the MLA’s phone call to the station in-charge, no effective steps were reportedly taken. The attack followed shortly after.

Tensions between the two sides over the disputed land had reportedly been simmering for a considerable period. The confrontation had been building, according to sources, and the final assault came without warning. The incident has triggered anger among local residents, with the area remaining tense.

The MLA has demanded the swift arrest of all those involved in the killing. Meanwhile, police have begun their investigation. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations in search of the accused. However, no official statement from police officers has been issued so far in connection with the case.
