MLA Dismisses Allegations as Hired Attack, Vows Public Response After Return from Muzaffarpur
Key Points:
- Saryu Roy labels accusing journalist a hired yellow journalist on X
- MLA invites senior journalists to inspect the alleged penthouse location
- Roy promises a detailed public response upon return from Muzaffarpur
JAMSHEDPUR – MLA Saryu Roy has hit back at a journalist whose video series levelled serious allegations against him, calling the campaign a politically motivated attack and promising a full public response soon.
A journalist’s video series has been circulating widely on Facebook, YouTube, and other digital platforms. Moreover, the videos have triggered a sharp political debate across Jamshedpur. The allegations target the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, MLA Saryu Roy, and his associates.
Allegations and the Video Campaign
The videos raise multiple serious charges, although not directly but through questions. These include questions about alleged illegal extortion and alleged misuse of political influence. However, documentary evidence supporting the claims has not yet been made public by any side.
As a result, perceptions rather than facts have come to dominate the debate.
Saryu Roy Strikes Back on X
Roy responded through two posts on X, targeting the journalist sharply. He called the journalist a self-proclaimed hired yellow journalist. In addition, he described the video campaign as baseless and politically driven.
In one post, Roy stated that he had invited respected journalists from the Jamshedpur Press Club to visit the location. The journalist had allegedly called this place a penthouse with a secret room accessible only to Roy. However, the invited journalists reportedly called the entire episode a blot on journalism. They also described the journalist as a political tool.

In his second post, Roy drew a clear distinction between public accountability and this specific campaign. “If the people of my constituency ask me anything about my public or personal life, I will answer,” he wrote. “But I am currently in Muzaffarpur for an event. Upon my return, I will give a public response to all the questions raised.”

Political Fault Lines Deepen
The controversy has visibly divided Jamshedpur’s political landscape into two broad camps. One section views the videos as an overdue public reckoning. They believe those in positions of power must answer questions raised in public interest.
Meanwhile, the opposing camp sees the campaign as a coordinated political conspiracy. They argue it is designed to damage a specific political leadership. Social media has seen fierce exchanges between supporters and critics of the journalist.
Raghubar Das, Banna Gupta Angle Surfaces
Several political observers and social media users have begun linking this episode to long-standing rivalries. Specifically, discussions have emerged around the political competition among Roy, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, and Minister Banna Gupta. However, these claims remain unverified and no independent confirmation has emerged.
Protest Threat Raises Political Temperature
The journalist has now announced plans to mobilise public protests against Roy. This has raised the possibility that the dispute could move beyond digital platforms. In contrast to an online debate, street protests could significantly escalate political tensions in the city.
Roy, responding to this threat, said he would wait for the so-called agitation. “I answer the public’s questions. I will wait for this supari journalist’s protest,” he said, in effect dismissing the journalist’s movement as illegitimate.
What Comes Next
Jamshedpur’s political atmosphere remains charged. Both sides have staked out clear positions. However, as political analysts point out, the credibility of any allegations rests on evidence. Similarly, rebuttals must also be grounded in facts.
Roy’s promised public response, expected after his return from Muzaffarpur, will be closely watched. It remains to be seen whether the response will address the specific allegations with documented facts. Meanwhile, the city waits as the political temperature continues to climb.
