Govind Uraon, 18, Critically Hurt in Midnight Ambush; Bullet Lodged between Neck and Back

GARHWA – An 18-year-old youth was ambushed and shot by unidentified assailants at close range near Jangeepur village in the Nagar Untari police station area of Garhwa district, sparking panic in the region.
The victim, Govind Uraon, is the son of Shankar Uraon. He is originally a resident of Gurdi village under Palamu district’s Garhwa police station area. However, he had been staying at his maternal grandmother’s house in Jangeepur.
The incident took place around 2 AM on Wednesday night. According to information, Govind had dropped off an acquaintance on his motorcycle and was heading back to his grandmother’s home. Meanwhile, a motorcycle-borne group of unknown criminals followed him. They opened fire on him just a short distance before he could reach the house.
The bullet struck him between the neck and the back. After shooting him, the assailants fled immediately from the scene. Locals and family members rushed him to the sub-divisional hospital for initial treatment.
Doctors, however, found his condition to be critical. They referred him to Sadar Hospital Garhwa for better care. In turn, Sadar Hospital also referred him further to Medininagar MMCH, where his treatment is currently ongoing.
Police reached the hospital upon receiving information about the shooting incident and began gathering details. Officers initiated a formal investigation into the case.
The motive behind the attack has not yet come to light. Police said they are examining all possible angles. The identity of the perpetrators also remains unknown.
