BOKARO – Bokaro Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena took to the streets late at night along with his force and senior officers to assess the city’s security situation firsthand, riding a Rakshak Rider patrol bike through several areas of Bokaro Steel City.
The SP had been receiving complaints that illegal gatherings were taking place near liquor shops in several parts of the city. These assemblies were causing inconvenience to ordinary residents. On the other hand, regular patrolling had apparently not been sufficient to curb the problem.
During the night-long patrol, Meena also collected direct public feedback on police functioning at various locations across the city. Residents were asked about their experience with local policing. In addition, the SP inspected several areas of Bokaro Steel City and issued directions to officers on the spot.
“All officers have been directed to maintain better policing and keep law and order firmly in place,” Meena said. He added that strict action would be taken against those found negligent in their duties. Moreover, he made it clear that any wrongdoing reported to the police would result in immediate action.
The SP’s decision to personally ride a Rakshak Rider bike through the city drew attention as an unusual and direct form of field supervision. The exercise was aimed at bridging the gap between the police administration and the public. Meanwhile, officers accompanying the SP were also briefed on the complaints received from residents.
