JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Impact Cluster, in collaboration with Tata Steel Foundation, has launched its Summer Camp 2026, running from May 20 to June 5 across 14 centres in the city.
The camp has been kept entirely free of cost. This has ensured inclusive participation from all sections of the community, including children, youth, and senior citizens.
Around 2,800 participants have enrolled this year. The age range spans from 7 years to 60 years and above.
Participants are taking part in a wide variety of sports and fitness activities. These include football, basketball, boxing, volleyball, handball, cricket, and athletics.
In addition, combat disciplines such as karate, taekwondo, hapkido, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) are also on offer. Fitness-based activities such as yoga and Zumba have drawn large numbers of participants as well.
Specialised training is being provided in archery and strength sports. The latter includes powerlifting, weightlifting, and bench press.
However, what makes this edition especially notable is the inclusion of archery and athletics for the first time. Both disciplines have received an enthusiastic response from students and youth.
Dedicated fitness sessions for senior citizens are also being held. These sessions are ensuring that the camp remains truly inclusive across all age groups.
The camp operates on a flexible timetable, with sessions available both in the morning and evening. This arrangement has made it convenient for participants from different walks of life to attend.
Over the years, the Summer Camp has emerged as a key platform for nurturing talent and promoting an active lifestyle. Through this initiative, Tata Steel Foundation and the Jamshedpur Impact Cluster have been consistently promoting grassroots sports development and community welfare.
Earlier, Tata Steel Foundation had also organised a hockey training session for physical education teachers of East Singhbhum, reflecting the broader thrust on sports education in the region.
Moreover, the foundation has previously supported community outreach programmes across multiple domains, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive community development in East Singhbhum.
