Officials Directed to Repair Hand Pumps, Deploy Tankers and Ensure Regular Monitoring
Key Points:
- DC orders adequate drinking water at all government offices and public places in district
- Immediate repair of defunct hand pumps and water towers directed by administration
- Water tankers to be deployed as needed; regular monitoring made mandatory
JAMSHEDPUR — In view of the severe heat and prevailing heatwave conditions, the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum has issued instructions to all departmental officials to ensure adequate arrangements for pure potable water at all government offices, public places, and locations frequented by the general public across the district.
Officials have been directed to carry out immediate repairs of defunct hand pumps and water towers on a priority basis. In addition, water tankers are to be deployed wherever necessary to meet the demand for drinking water. Regular monitoring of all these arrangements has also been made mandatory.
The administration has made clear that no citizen should face a drinking water crisis under any circumstances. Officials have been held responsible for ensuring uninterrupted and clean water supply at all public locations within their jurisdictions.
The directive comes against the backdrop of an intensifying heat crisis across Jamshedpur and Jharkhand, where temperatures have been rising sharply. The extreme weather has put significant pressure on the existing water supply infrastructure in many parts of the district. Residents in areas such as Kadma’s Shastri Nagar had recently faced acute shortages, prompting intervention by local representatives.
