Jan Vikas Manch Warns of JBVNL Office Gherao if DVC and JBVNL Fail to Act
Key Points:
- Power cuts every 5 minutes hitting Mango-Dimna area; low voltage stops water pumps
- Jan Vikas Manch president Saurabh Vishnu demands immediate action from DVC and JBVNL
- Gherao of Mango JBVNL office threatened if crisis not resolved soon
JAMSHEDPUR — Residents of Jamshedpur who depend on JBVNL for their electricity supply are bearing the brunt of relentless power cuts amid scorching temperatures and a severe heat wave. The situation in the Mango-Dimna area has turned particularly acute, with power tripping every five minutes, frequent load shedding, and dangerously low voltage disrupting daily life.
Residential areas of Bagbera, Karandih, Parsudih as well as Mango are reeling under frequent power cuts.
The low voltage has become a separate crisis in itself. In many households, water pumps and motors have stopped functioning altogether due to the inadequate voltage, deepening an already severe drinking water crisis in the area.
Jan Vikas Manch president Saurabh Vishnu has demanded that DVC and JBVNL restore the power supply situation without further delay. He pointed out that children’s studies, shopkeepers’ livelihoods, and patients’ conditions are all being adversely affected by the unrelenting power disruptions.
“Power is tripping every five minutes in this extreme heat,” he said, adding that the situation had become completely intolerable for ordinary residents. He warned that if the problem was not resolved quickly, Jan Vikas Manch would mobilise the public and stage a gherao of the Mango JBVNL office. He made clear that full responsibility for any such escalation would rest with the concerned departments.
The power crisis comes at a time when temperatures in Jamshedpur and across Jharkhand have been hitting extreme highs, making uninterrupted electricity supply critical for health, safety, and daily functioning. Vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and the sick are among those most severely impacted by the ongoing crisis.
