JAMSHEDPUR – The Sunder Nagar police station successfully arrested V Tantubai, a notorious criminal involved in extorting local businessmen through WhatsApp calls.
Tantubai’s method involved approaching businesses in his Thar car, brandishing a weapon to intimidate his victims into compliance.
This alarming behavior prompted local residents to notify the Sundernagar police, leading to a swift operation resulting in Tantubai’s capture on Post Office Road.
During a press conference held at the SSP office in Sakchi, Rural SP Rishabh Garg detailed the seizure of a pistol, the Thar jeep (JH 05 DL 4538) used by Tantubai, a damaged Vivo mobile phone, an iron golf stick, and a cartridge.
The police disclosed that Tantubai destroyed his mobile phone during the raid, indicating an attempt to eliminate evidence.
Investigations have revealed Tantubai’s involvement in seven criminal cases, with six registered across various Jharkhand police stations and one by the Railway Police, including an incident in Odisha and a robbery case.
The involvement of Tantubai’s family members in extortion activities is under investigation, with police suggesting the golf stick was intended for use in assaults.
