JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Assembly elections are underway, with polling stations across the state reporting a steady stream of voters.
By 11 a.m., the overall voter turnout in Jharkhand stood at approximately 29.31%, according to the Election Commission’s data.
The East Singhbhum district, which includes Jamshedpur, recorded a turnout of 28.34% by the same time.
In Jamshedpur, six assembly constituencies are participating in the first phase of polling.
The Baharagora constituency reported the highest turnout in the district with 33.97%, followed closely by Ghatsila at 32.15%.
Potka recorded a turnout of 31.02%, while Jugsalai saw 30.89% of its voters cast their ballots by mid-morning.
However, both Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West constituencies registered relatively lower turnouts, at 23.30% and 22.29%, respectively.
An election official overseeing the process stated, “Polling is proceeding peacefully, with no major disruptions reported so far.”
As the day progresses, officials expect turnout numbers to rise, driven by increased voter engagement in key constituencies.
