2 Ballot Units to be used in Jamshedpur as 25 candidates remain in the fray
The Jamshedpur Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency witnessed a candidate withdrawing their nomination on the final day of the withdrawal process. Consequently, the total number of candidates contesting the election has been reduced to 25. However, it necessitates the use of two ballot units for the upcoming polls.
JAMSHEDPUR – The withdrawal of a candidate on the last day of nomination withdrawal in the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency has led to a reduction in the total number of candidates to 25.
As a result, the election will now require the utilization of two ballot units, prompting a randomization process for the allocation of additional ballot units. This is because one ballot unit can accommodate only 16 candidates.
The randomization of the additional ballot units was carried out at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur.
District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, along with Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and representatives from various political parties, oversaw the process to ensure transparency and fairness.
The decision to use two ballot units comes in response to the revised number of candidates contesting the election.
With 25 candidates in the fray, the Election Commission has taken necessary steps to accommodate the names of all contenders on the ballot papers.
During the randomization process, additional ballot units were allocated to all 1887 polling stations across the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.
This ensures that voters will have access to the complete list of candidates when they cast their votes on election day.
The presence of District Election Officer Ananya Mittal and AROs during the randomization process highlights the Election Commission’s commitment to conducting free and fair elections.
By involving political party representatives in the review process, the authorities aim to maintain transparency and build confidence in the electoral process.
As the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency gears up for the polls, the Election Commission is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and unbiased voting experience for all eligible voters.
The reallocation of ballot units and the involvement of key officials and stakeholders demonstrate the dedication to upholding the integrity of the democratic process.
