Voting in Jamshedpur set for May 25 in the sixth phase
An independent candidate, Rakesh Kumar, has withdrawn from the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha election, leaving 25 contenders.
JAMSHEDPUR – An independent candidate, Rakesh Kumar, withdrew his nomination for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha election, reducing the field to 25 candidates.
Electoral Officer Ananya Mittal stated that 32 candidates initially filed nominations for this constituency.
On May 7, irregularities were detected in six nominations, leading to their rejection.
The contest now includes 25 candidates following the withdrawal on the last day.
The sixth phase of voting in Jamshedpur will occur on May 25.
There are 673 polling stations across the city, with a female officer appointed at each one.
Of these, 267 are in areas with pardah-observing women, who will also be identified by a female officer.
Thirty booths will be managed by women entirely, and one by youth.
Mittal reported that Rs 1.22 crore in cash has been confiscated so far.
To curb illegal activity, 18 flying squads have been deployed to monitor and seize unaccounted cash.
