Three Women Dead, Four Injured in East Singhbhum Incident
A devastating mudslide in Dharampur village, Baharagora, resulted in the tragic loss of three Santali tribal women, with four more sustaining injuries, sparking a rapid response from local authorities and community members.
JAMSHEDPUR – A grave accident unfolded in Dharampur village of Matihana Panchayat, Baharagora, on Wednesday afternoon, as a mudslide claimed the lives of three women and left four injured amidst efforts to retrieve the deceased and provide immediate care to the survivors.
The incident occurred when a group of eight women from Baniyakudar, Baharagora, ventured two kilometers from their village to Dharampur to collect clay for house painting, a traditional activity in the region.
Tragically, seven of these women found themselves in a pit, which subsequently collapsed, burying them under the debris. Three women, identified as Manju Kisku (33), Sushila Soren (31), and Alo Moni Tudu (34), succumbed to the disaster, while Cheeta Murmu (30), Raimani Hansda (15), Kamali Murmu (19), and Salma Tudu (32) suffered injuries.
Rescue efforts are ongoing to recover the bodies of the deceased, with the community and authorities rallying to support the victims and their families.
The injured have been transported to the community health center for treatment, where they are currently being cared for.
Police arrived at the scene to gather information and initiate an investigation into the circumstances leading to the mudslide, as the community mourns the loss and grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event.
The sudden disaster has left the villagers in shock, with the relatives of the deceased grieving deeply, highlighting the dangers associated with natural occurrences and the vulnerability of rural communities to such unforeseen events.
