JAMSHEDPUR – A fresh wave of protests erupted in Bagbera as residents voiced their frustration over persistent water shortages. The agitation, spearheaded by Subodh Jha, president of the Bagbera Metropolitan Development Committee, highlighted the administration’s failure to implement the promised Bagbera Rural Water Supply Scheme.
Demonstrators gathered at Ramnagar Hanuman Mandir Chowk to demand immediate action. The protesters emphasized that assurances given during a March 2022 meeting, including written commitments from senior officials of the Jharkhand government’s Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, remain unmet.
Broken Promises of Water Supply
During the Delhi foot march in March 2022, government representatives assured that water supply issues would be resolved by March 2023. Despite this, the scheme has yet to materialize, leaving residents grappling with acute water shortages.
Growing Frustration Among Residents
Protest leaders criticized the administration’s apathy. “We have waited long enough. The written promises and parliamentary discussions have yielded no results. The administration must act now,” said Subodh Jha.
The demonstration serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by Bagbera residents, urging the authorities to prioritize the issue.
