Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato met the Union Civil Aviation Minister to expedite forest clearance for the Dhalbhumgarh Airport project, which is pending approval from MoEF&CC.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a crucial step towards the construction of Dhalbhumgarh Airport, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ramamohan Naidu today.
The meeting focused on securing the necessary forest clearance for the airport project.
The airport construction has been delayed due to pending approvals from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
The Jharkhand Government had submitted a proposal to transfer 99.256 hectares of forest land for the airport’s development.
MP Bidyut Baran Mahato highlighted the importance of the project and urged the Civil Aviation Minister to expedite discussions with the Secretary of the Environment Ministry.
This is to ensure the swift processing of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the forest department.

The proposal is currently pending at the head office of MoEF&CC. Once approved, the construction work is expected to commence immediately.
The Dhalbhumgarh Airport project has been a long-standing demand to improve connectivity and boost economic development in the region.
The Jharkhand Government has shown commitment by allocating funds and coordinating with various departments to facilitate the project’s progress.
The Secretary of the Environment Ministry has been requested to prioritize the clearance process. The successful acquisition of the NOC will pave the way for the project’s initiation.
One official noted, “The meeting between MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and the Civil Aviation Minister is a significant move towards resolving the forest clearance issue, which is the final hurdle for the airport’s construction.”
Once operational, the airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the Kolhan region, providing a boost to tourism and local businesses.
