Police Arrests in Jamshedpur Land Occupation Case

Jamshedpur police arrest two businessmen for illegal occupation of Khatiani land, invoking the SC/ST Atrocity Act, in a significant action against land fraud.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur police have taken decisive action in a land occupation case involving Khatiani land in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Businessmen Sanjay Debuka and Nishant Dhoot, the latter related to a Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry official, were arrested for their involvement.

This case, charged under the SC/ST Atrocity Act, revolves around the illegal occupation and fraudulent registration of land belonging to Durgacharan Bhumij, father of Dumka Singh from Asanbani.

A complaint lodged by Dumka Singh at Chandil police station on July 23, 2023, led to charges against Chhitarmal Dhoot, Sanjay Kumar Debuka, and Nishant Dhoot for fraud, extortion, and violations of the Harijan Act.

Chhitarmal Dhoot, a resident of Jugsalai Old Basti Road, and his son Nishant are key accused in this case.

Sanjay Kumar Debuka, residing in Kadma’s Ramnagar with a business in Sakchi Mill and Godown area, is also implicated.

The complaint details how the accused deceitfully registered land worth Rs 2 crore, initially paying Rs 50,000 as advance to Dumka Singh’s illiterate brother, Ganesh Singh.

The incident dates back to March 15, 2021, when the accused allegedly threatened the landowner and began construction on the disputed land on May 26.
