Congress starts indefinite sit-in before Adityapur Municipal Corporation

Arvind Singh too lends support to Munna Sharma-led agitation programme

Jamshedpur: The Congress workers started their pre-scheduled indefinite sit-in and dharna in front of Adityapur Municipal Corporation office in Seraikela-Kharsawan district Wednesday. The dharna is being supported by the former MLA of Ichaagarh Arvind Singh too, apart from several other social and political organisations.

Congress has launched a phased agitation to raise the issues of 35 wards of Adityapur Municipal Corporation.

Earlier, a delegation of Congress workers and leaders had met the officials of Adityapur Municipal Corporation and submitted a memorandum to them to resolve the civic issues of the area.

Later, Congress workers also carried out a foot march and a public awareness campaign. The next phase of the agitation was to start an indefinite sit-in. It started on Wednesday.

This phased agitation is being led by the Congress leader and MP representative Munna Sharma.

Munna Sharma said that he is getting all the co-operation and support from different political and social outfits as well as common citizens.

He said that the party would take the agitation to its logical conclusion.

Former MLA of Ichagarh Arvind Singh also took part in the sit-in and lent his support.

He said that although Adityapur Municipal Corporation has completed 12 years, the corporation administration has failed in solving the problems of the people living in its areas.
