Recognized for ‘Community Support to TB Patients’ under PM’s initiative
Tata Steel Foundation receives accolade from Jharkhand government for tuberculosis support efforts.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Jharkhand, felicitated Tata Steel Foundation in Ranchi for its TB support initiatives.
The recognition came under the ‘Community Support to TB patients’ – Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA).
Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) adopted 24 blocks across Jharkhand and Odisha as part of the Ni-kshay Mitra project.
The foundation’s objective was to provide ‘Monthly Food Basket Kits’ to consenting TB patients in the adopted blocks.
Dr. Anuj Bhatnagar, Head- Public Health, and Mr. Amit Kumar, Head- Community Health cluster at TSF, were honored for their performance.
Shri. Banna Gupta, Minister of Health, and Shri. Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Health, Govt. of Jharkhand, presented the awards.
The campaign, a Government of India initiative, focused on incentivizing private sector healthcare providers for notifying TB cases.
Ni-Kshay Mitras included various entities such as corporates, NGOs, and individuals supporting government efforts against TB.
TSF’s nikshay mitras worked to spread awareness about tuberculosis using educational kits provided by the foundation.
They identified TB cases in all 8 blocks of Jharkhand and reported them timely to district-level government health officials.
The recognition covers TSF’s efforts from November 2023 to October 2024.
