JCAPCPL Inaugurates Twelve Ponds in Patamda Block with Tata Steel Foundation’s Support
Initiative Aims to Boost Income and Quality of Life for Local Farmers
JCAPCPL, in collaboration with the Tata Steel Foundation, inaugurated twelve pond farms in Patamda Block, enhancing the livelihood and sustainability of the local community.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Private Limited (JCAPCPL), with the support of Tata Steel Foundation, inaugurated twelve pond farms in Patamda Block on July 16, 2024.
The project, undertaken as part of JCAPCPL’s corporate social responsibility, was successfully completed under the guidance and support of Tata Steel Foundation.
The inauguration was led by JCAPCPL MD Ujjwal Chakraborty and Tata Steel Foundation CEO Saurav Roy.
All project beneficiaries attended the ceremony.
Local farmers shared their inspiring stories, illustrating how the Integrated Farming System (IFS) has significantly increased their income and improved their quality of life.
One of the farmers, Duryodhan Mahato, described using the pond for multiple purposes such as fish farming, animal husbandry, vegetable cultivation, and horticulture on the pond’s embankments.
Speaking at the event, Saurav Roy highlighted the success of IFS in Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bengal, attributing it to the people’s understanding of their relationship with land and water.
He emphasized the project’s role in enhancing climate resilience and appreciated JCAPCPL’s unwavering support, expressing a commitment to making the project beneficial for the villagers.
Present at the event were village head of Hurumbil, Parikshit Mahato, and Banakunchiya Gram Panchayat head of Patamda Block, Gurucharan Hembram, who underscored the community’s strong support for the initiative.
Expressing his satisfaction, Ujjwal Chakraborty said, "I am pleased to hear about the economic benefits that people are gaining from the Integrated Farming System."
He also praised Tata Steel Foundation for fostering incredible relationships with the villagers.
Chakraborty urged all villagers to educate their children, stressing that the country’s development depends on them.
JCAPCPL Workers Union President R. Ravi Prasad commended the collaborative efforts of JCAPCPL and Tata Steel Foundation, noting that "IFS not only helps farmers but also maintains groundwater levels for water conservation."
Senior leadership teams from JCAPCPL and Tata Steel Foundation, along with the villagers, attended the inauguration ceremony.
JCAPCPL CHRO Ajay Kumar Singh emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, promising more such projects in the future.
He thanked everyone present at the ceremony for their support and participation.
