JAMSHEDPUR – The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee has warned of an intensified agitation against the rising incidents of chopper attacks and the rapidly spreading synthetic drug trade across Jamshedpur, holding administrative inaction responsible for the deteriorating situation.

District Congress media in-charge and spokesperson Rajiv Mishra, in a press release, said the recent chopper attack incidents in the city were extremely alarming.

He said the rapid spread of synthetic drugs — locally referred to as “dry intoxicants” — was emerging as a primary driver behind these violent incidents.

According to Mishra, illegal drug dens were operating on a large scale in major markets, public places and residential localities of Jamshedpur.

He said the situation was darkening the future of the city’s youth and contributing to a steady rise in crime incidents.

The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee has begun preparations for a formal agitation on this issue.

As a first step, a Youth Congress team led by Sunny Singh recently submitted a memorandum to the administration.

The memorandum demanded an immediate ban on illegal drug trade, arrests of those responsible, and intensive raids in affected areas.

Mishra warned the administration that if effective curbs were not placed on the drug trade and related chopper attack incidents soon, the party would escalate its agitation in a phased manner.

Planned activities would include public awareness campaigns, sit-in protests, rallies and administrative gherao, he said.

He made clear that the responsibility for any such escalation would rest entirely with the administration’s inaction.

Jamshedpur has witnessed multiple drug-related seizures and sharp-weapon attacks in recent weeks.

The press release stated that the Congress party remained committed to the welfare of society, the future of youth and the strengthening of law and order.

Mishra appealed to residents to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign.

He also urged citizens to report any illegal activity to the administration to make Jamshedpur safe, healthy and free from addiction.
