JAMSHEDPUR – The second annual classical music conference organized by Pratham Swar showcased stellar performances by renowned classical musicians, leaving the audience mesmerized throughout the evening.
The event, held on December 7, 2024, at the Swami Vedananda Cultural Hall in Bharat Sevashram Sangha, commenced with a tribute to Yugacharya Swami Pranavananda Ji Maharaj.
The evening opened with a performance by Birendra Upadhyay, a distinguished classical vocalist and revered guru from Jamshedpur.
Accompanied by his students, he presented a soulful rendition of Raagmala, setting a serene tone for the event.
Performances by Acclaimed Artists
Subhabrata Chatterjee, a Kolkata-based artist and disciple of Pandit Deepak Chaudhury, took the stage next.
He delivered captivating personal compositions in Raag Patdeep followed by a Madhyalay Bandish in Raag Kirwani.
His performance was elevated by the rhythmic accompaniment of Shri Sangram Roy on the tabla.
The energy and precision in Subhabrata’s compositions drew loud applause from the audience.
Following this, vocalist Ayan Roychoudhury from Kolkata delivered an exquisite performance of Khayal in Raag Bhoopali and a devotional Bhajan.
Ayan, a disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, and Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, impressed the audience with his impeccable vocal range and control.
He was accompanied on tabla by Swarup Moitra and on harmonium by Sanjay Biswas, creating a perfect harmony of melody and rhythm.
The Grand Finale
The final performance of the evening featured a magnificent sitar and flute duet by Shri Subhash Bose and Ashok Singh.
The duo presented Raag Maru Bihag and Bhairavi, capturing the essence of classical music’s grandeur.
Their intricate synchronization, supported by Amitava Sen’s tabla accompaniment, left the audience spellbound.
Each note struck by the duo resonated with grace, bringing the event to a fitting and unforgettable conclusion.
Appreciation and Packed Audience
The program was smoothly anchored by Shri Sujit Roy, who engaged the packed audience with his eloquence.
He also delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the performers and attendees.
Secretary Devarghya Roy, Assistant Secretary Kartick Karmakar, and Treasurer Krishnendu Paul of Pratham Swar conveyed their appreciation to all supporters and well-wishers.
Several eminent personalities from Jamshedpur, including Shri Anirudhha Sen, Smt. Vibha Mishra, Shri Satya Prakash Tiwari, Shri Haraprasad Mukherjee, Shri Pankaj Jha, Shri Anil Singh, and Shri Nupur Goswami, lent their support to the event.
