Key Points:
- Mayor Sudha Gupta personally visits Dimna Chowk-MGM Hospital road on complaint
- Emergency levelling work carried out within one hour of mayor’s inspection
- Permanent technical survey ordered; quality of road repair to be strictly monitored
JAMSHEDPUR — Mango Municipal Corporation Mayor Sudha Gupta swung into action after receiving complaints about a dangerous stretch on the main road between Dimna Chowk and MGM Hospital, personally visiting the site and getting emergency repairs done within an hour on Sunday.
The road connecting Dimna Chowk to MGM Hospital had been causing serious difficulties to pedestrians and motorists for a long time. Uneven surface levels at both ends of the stretch had been causing vehicles to lose balance. On the other hand, potholes and persistent waterlogging had been leading to frequent accidents on the route.
The moment Mayor Sudha Gupta received information about the problem, she proceeded directly to the spot. She carried out a thorough inspection of the road’s condition herself. The inspection confirmed that the uneven road level was the primary cause of vehicle imbalance and rising accident risk.
On her instructions, the road surface was levelled immediately by removing debris and filling the uneven portions. MGM Hospital is one of the busiest healthcare destinations in the city, and the approach road to it sees heavy traffic round the clock. The emergency repair work brought immediate relief to local residents, who expressed their appreciation for the mayor’s swift intervention.
However, Mayor Gupta was categorical that the repairs carried out were only a temporary measure. She stated that the Mango Municipal Corporation would soon commission a technical survey of the stretch. Moreover, a detailed work plan for a permanent solution would be prepared on the basis of that survey.
She also directed the concerned officials to ensure strict quality control in all road construction and repair works going forward. In addition, she made clear that no negligence in road work quality would be tolerated. “The municipality’s top priority is to make the city safe, accessible and well-organised,” she was quoted as saying. “Swift resolution of citizens’ problems is the administration’s responsibility.”
Local residents thanked the mayor for her prompt intervention. They expressed hope that the permanent solution, once implemented, would make this stretch fully safe for all commuters. The road in question serves as a critical link for patients and their families travelling to MGM Hospital from across the city.
The Mango Municipal Corporation has been dealing with multiple road and civic infrastructure issues across its jurisdiction. Mayor Gupta’s on-ground response has been noted as a departure from the usual administrative approach of handling complaints through office files. Residents in the Bistupur and Mango areas have been pressing for faster resolution of road-related complaints for months.
