JAMSHEDPUR – A senior prison official conducted a surprise inspection in Dhanbad jail reviewing inmate facilities and services.

The Inspector General of Prisons, Sudarshan Mandal, reached Dhanbad and inspected the divisional jail. He closely reviewed overall arrangements inside the facility.

Meanwhile, he examined whether inmates receive meals as per schedule. He also assessed food quality and hygiene conditions.

Moreover, he interacted directly with inmates during the visit. He gathered information about their daily conditions and available services.

However, the inspection also focused on communication facilities. Authorities reviewed phone access provided to inmates for family contact.

On the other hand, officials checked meeting arrangements with relatives. The IG confirmed improvements in visitation frequency.

Earlier, inmates could meet families once every 15 days. Now, they are allowed meetings twice each week.

Furthermore, Mandal stated that reforms have been implemented gradually. These changes aim to improve inmate welfare standards.

Meanwhile, he instructed officials to maintain transparency in operations. He emphasized organized management inside the jail.

Moreover, he directed staff to prevent any inconvenience to inmates. He said all facilities must function smoothly.

Officials from the jail administration remained present during the inspection. They provided updates on ongoing management systems.
