JAMSHEDPUR – Police seized sharp weapons and firearms from teenagers during a Ram Navami procession in Sonari to prevent potential accidents.

Police intervened during the Ram Navami procession in Sonari after spotting teenagers carrying sharp choppers. Meanwhile, officers quickly confiscated these items to avoid possible injuries in the crowded gathering.

Officials said traditional weapons are often carried during such events. However, they noted that extremely sharp tools pose serious risks in dense crowds.

Moreover, police recovered 37 choppers from the procession participants. They also seized two air pistols and one dummy firearm from the spot.

On the other hand, no criminal case was registered in the matter. Authorities stated that the action was purely preventive in nature.

Police acted under Section 149 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Meanwhile, this provision allows authorities to prevent potential offences before they occur.

Officials explained that misuse of such sharp objects could cause severe injuries. Moreover, even minor negligence can lead to serious harm during crowded processions.

In recent weeks, incidents involving chopper attacks have increased in Jamshedpur. Several people have suffered injuries, with some cases reported as serious.

Therefore, police maintained heightened vigilance during Ram Navami celebrations. Meanwhile, the aim was to ensure peace and public safety across the city.
