National Mage Festival Set for April 11-12 in City

Tribal Culture to Take Center Stage at Bistupur Event

JAMSHEDPUR – A two-day national Mage festival will celebrate tribal culture with performances, competitions, and exhibitions in the city.

The event will take place on April 11 and 12. It will be held at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.

Meanwhile, the festival is being organised by Johar Trust. It will host tribal artists from several states.

The programme will highlight traditional songs, dances, and games. Moreover, cultural performances will run across both days.

Organisers will also felicitate individuals for notable contributions. These honours will be given by the Johar organisation.

Around 100 stalls will be installed at the venue. These will display food, clothing, and handicrafts.

In addition, visitors will find herbal products and books. Furniture, decor items, and gadgets will also be available.

On April 11, a dialogue event will be organised. It will take place at Turamdih Club.

Meanwhile, this session will focus on tribal traditions. It will also recognise social contributors.

On April 12, the main programme will be conducted. It will feature the ‘Mage Susun’ dance contest.

Participants from 11 states will compete in the event. Winners will receive Rs 2.11 lakh in prizes.

Certificates and mementos will also be awarded. Moreover, selected children from an earlier art contest will be honoured.

The grand finale will host a dance competition. Top 15 dancers from across India will perform.

The winner will receive Rs 1 lakh prize money. The event will be judged by Sneha Chakraborty.

She is known for winning Dance Plus Season 6. Meanwhile, several prominent leaders may attend.

Expected guests include Champai Soren and Arjun Munda. Madhu Koda is also likely to be present.

In addition, Meera Munda and Geeta Koda may attend. Dasrath Gagrai and Bidyut Baran Mahato are also expected.

Officials from UCIL Turamdih and Tata Steel will join. Various exhibitions will also be organised.

Community leaders like Manki-Munda and others will be honoured. Cultural performances will include artists from multiple regions.

The festival aims to preserve tribal traditions and language. It also seeks to promote unity and cultural pride.

Several organisers attended the press briefing. These included Diggi, Champa Diggi, and Sarita Chakiya.

Others present were Lisa Guiya and Saraswati Guiya. Additional members also participated in the event briefing.
