Traffic Relief Sought as Civic Body Clears Roadside Occupation

Key Points:

  • Encroachment removal drive conducted on Top Chowk Road in Kapali
  • Traffic congestion complaints cited as primary reason by administrator
  • Shopkeepers express anger over repeated eviction actions

JAMSHEDPUR – Civic authorities carried out an encroachment removal drive in Kapali to ease congestion.

The drive took place in the Kapali Nagar Parishad area. It occurred on Thursday.

Administrator Gopi Krishna led the operation. However, the focus remained on Top Chowk Road.

Officials said the objective was traffic relief. Moreover, the road faced repeated congestion complaints.

Several schools and hospitals operate nearby. Consequently, patients and students faced movement difficulties.

The administrator said warnings were earlier issued. However, some traders continued placing goods roadside.

Despite notices, shops remained extended onto the road. Therefore, officials initiated clearance measures.

Civic officials stated stricter action would follow. Moreover, future violations would invite final measures.

During the drive, several traders expressed anger. Tensions were visible on the road.

Potato-onion trader Mohammad Akhtar raised objections. He said his shop was privately owned.

However, officials barred keeping goods outside. He questioned the enforcement approach.

Meanwhile, officials referred to a vending zone. The zone was earlier created by the council.

Several roadside traders now operate there regularly. According to officials, congestion has reduced.

Elderly trader Mohammad Kaleem Ansari voiced dissatisfaction. He criticised repeated notices and actions.

He said poor traders faced livelihood threats. Moreover, daily earnings supported dependent families.

Municipal workers remained present throughout the operation. Security arrangements were maintained.

Authorities appealed for public cooperation. They urged vendors to use designated vending zones.

The administration requested support to keep roads clean. Moreover, officials stressed smooth traffic movement.

Related developments on civic demolition actions have surfaced earlier. Reports included Bhuiyandih protests.

Other incidents involved effigy burning and political row.

Similar actions occurred during Burmamines protests and court intervention.
