ED Seeks CBI Probe in Jharkhand Case
Request made to Jharkhand High Court for CBI investigation into case involving ED officials and media under SC-ST Act
The Enforcement Directorate has appealed to the Jharkhand High Court for a CBI inquiry into accusations under the SC-ST Act involving its officials.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a significant step by requesting the Jharkhand High Court to authorize a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into allegations made against its personnel and certain media figures under the SC-ST Act.
This move comes in the wake of an FIR lodged by Hemant Soren on January 31, targeting ED officials Kapil Raj, Devvrat Jha, Anupam Kumar, Aman Patel, and unidentified individuals at the SC-ST police station in Ranchi.
The complaint centers around an incident where ED officials allegedly conducted a raid on Soren’s Delhi residence between January 29 and 31, during his mandated stay in Ranchi, without providing prior notice.
Soren’s grievance further highlights that none of the implicated ED officers belong to the SC-ST community, accusing them of causing mental and social distress to him and his family through their actions.
Meanwhile, the court has issued a directive prohibiting any form of coercive measures against the ED officials implicated in the FIR.
