JAMSHEDPUR – Police detained 14 couples and sealed three hotels after raids in Garhwa.
Police conducted coordinated raids in Garhwa town following a tip-off. Authorities suspected illegal activities in several hotels.
However, officers found multiple couples staying without proper records. Moreover, officials recovered objectionable items during the operation.
Meanwhile, the raid was led by senior administrative officials. The team included SDM, SDPO, and other police officers.
On the other hand, police broke open doors in one hotel. Eight couples were found inside during the operation.
Similarly, another hotel near Danro river bridge revealed three couples. In total, 14 couples were detained for questioning.
Moreover, some detainees are suspected to be minors. Officials stated age verification is currently underway.
However, three hotels were immediately sealed after the raid. Employees were also taken to the police station.
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed lack of proper entry records. This raised suspicion of organized illegal activities.
In contrast, officials said further investigation will determine exact charges. A formal case will be registered after inquiry completion.
Authorities also noted similar trends in smaller towns. Such cases earlier appeared mostly in cities like Ranchi.
A senior official said, “We received credible inputs about illegal operations.” He added, “Strict action will follow after verification.”
