ABVP demands strict punishment to accused in Parsudih minor sexual assault case

Jamshedpur: A delegation of Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad’s Jamshedpur unit today met the SSP Dr. M Tamil Vanan and urged him to take strict action in cases relating to sexual assault on and harassment of women. The delegation also urged the SSP to ensure punishment to the culprits in the Parsudih minor sexual assault case that occurred last Sunday.

It may be added here that on Sunday last a group of youths returning from a picnic had overpowered a minor girl returning home from a shop and had sexually assaulted her in the lavatory of a government school closed for several months.

The police have arrested four accused and have sent them to judicial custody.

The ABVP delegation also urged the government to make strict laws against sexual assault and harassment of women.

This particular incident reportedly occurred in a government school campus. The police have arrested four persons in this connection and have sent them to jail. 13 others are being interrogated.

According to information received, the family members of the victim have filed a named FIR with Parsudih police station. A ruckus was also caused at the police station on Tuesday.

The SSP confirmed that the arrested youths have confessed their involvement in the crime.

The SSP Dr. M Tamil Vanan said that the victim was only 15 and worked in a shop in Parsudih. She was going back home, when a boy known to her took her to a vacant lavatory and assaulted her sexually.

4 boys were arrested based on the statement of victim’s father.

The arrested youths are all adults and they have confessed to their involvement in the crime. All have been sent to judicial custody.
