Accused Were Nabbed at Mango Bus Stand While Trying to Flee to Patna

JAMSHEDPUR — Police have cracked a sensational shooting and chopper attack at Chhaya Nagar under Sitaramdera police station, arresting four accused and recovering weapons used in the crime.
The attack took place on the night of March 31, 2026. The time was around 9:30 pm. A gang of criminals descended on Nandu Lohar alias Nandu Karmakar and Sunny Pushti. The assailants used a country-made firearm and sharp-edged choppers to attack both victims. Both were left seriously wounded.
On the basis of the statement given by the injured Nandu Lohar, a case was registered at Sitaramdera police station as FIR No. 35/2026. The Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, took note of the gravity of the matter. He then ordered the immediate formation of a special investigation team.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-I) Bhola Prasad Singh led this team. It moved swiftly to identify and track down the perpetrators. All four accused were subsequently nabbed.
The arrested persons are Karan Verma, 21; Nirbhay Singh alias Chhottka, 19; Santosh Verma alias Munna, 21; and Kunal Munda alias Chhila, 23. All four reside in Chhaya Nagar under the Sitaramdera police station jurisdiction.
However, their arrest did not happen at the crime scene. Police intercepted all four at Mango bus stand. They were on the verge of boarding a bus headed to Patna to evade arrest.
On the other hand, searches conducted on the basis of disclosures made by the accused yielded crucial evidence. Police recovered one country-made pistol, three choppers and two Android mobile phones from them. These weapons had been used in the March 31 assault.
Meanwhile, police in Jamshedpur have been aggressively pursuing armed criminal cases in recent weeks. In this case too, further investigation is underway. Police are probing whether any additional persons were involved in the attack.
