JAMSHEDPUR – Police arrested a gang member in Ramgarh after extortion threats at a construction site and recovered illegal weapons.
Police confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to a local gang. The action followed threats at a bridge construction site in Ramgarh district.
Meanwhile, the incident occurred in the Bhadaninagar OP area. The location was a bridge project site in Sutharpur village.
However, officials said the accused demanded money before allowing work. The threats were reportedly made through a mobile phone call.
Moreover, the suspect warned of serious consequences if demands failed. This raised concerns among workers at the construction site.
On the other hand, Ramgarh police formed a Special Investigation Team quickly. The team was led by the SDPO of Patratu.
Meanwhile, the accused was identified as Ashok Mahto, aged 29. He is a resident of Rochap under Patratu.
However, police arrested him after tracking the threatening calls. The operation was conducted early Friday morning.
Moreover, officers recovered a 7.65 mm country-made pistol. Three live cartridges were also seized during the raid.
