JAMSHEDPUR – Police arrested two smugglers in Baharagora with 50 kg ganja and seized a Tata Punch vehicle during a planned operation.
Acting on secret inputs, police launched a targeted operation in Baharagora. Meanwhile, officials tracked a vehicle suspected of transporting narcotics from Odisha.
A special team was formed under Ghatshila SDPO. Moreover, barricading was set up near Kaliyabinga Chowk for vehicle checks.
The suspect car was stopped during inspection. However, officials conducted a search under NDPS provisions with a magistrate present.
Two plastic sacks were found in the car trunk. Meanwhile, 25 packets wrapped in brown tape were recovered from inside.
The total weight of seized ganja was 50 kilograms. Moreover, police estimated its market value at nearly Rs 25 lakh.
The accused were identified as Bheem Yadav and Raj Kumar Pal. Meanwhile, officers also recovered two Android phones and Rs 3,482 cash.
The Tata Punch vehicle used in the transport was seized. However, police confirmed it carried registration number JH05DS-6333.
During questioning, the accused revealed their supply chain. Moreover, they admitted sourcing ganja from Odisha’s Chilika Lake region.
They transported the drugs from Barakul area. Meanwhile, the consignment was meant for distribution in Patna and other Bihar regions.
Police said further investigation is ongoing. Moreover, officials are now tracing the wider interstate smuggling network linked to Jamshedpur routes.
