AAI team inspects old airstrip for future development plan

CHAKULIA – A high-level AAI team inspected Chakulia aerodrome to assess its revival as a modern airport under a national expansion plan.

The inspection took place on Saturday at Chakulia in East Singhbhum district. The aerodrome dates back to World War II.

Meanwhile, the site has remained inactive for decades. Authorities are now reviewing its redevelopment potential.

Moreover, a five-member team led the inspection exercise. Ajay Kumar Singh, DGM ATM, headed the delegation.

However, the team examined the runway and nearby land. Existing structures and safety conditions were also reviewed.

Meanwhile, officials verified land records using maps. They assessed the current condition of the aerodrome.

Meanwhile, the survey aligns with a central government plan. The plan aims to build 100 new airports by 2036.
