Police Uncover Naxal IED Unit in West Singhbhum Forest
Significant Cache of Explosives Found in Kolhan Forest Division Hideout
In a significant operation, police and paramilitary forces discovered an IED-making unit set up by Naxals in West Singhbhum, marking a major stride in counter-insurgency efforts.
CHAIBASA – The hideout, located in the dense forests of Hushipi under the Tonto thana area within the Kolhan forest division, was unearthed during a meticulous search operation conducted on Monday evening.
Officials reported the seizure of a substantial cache of explosives and bomb-making materials from the site, indicating the serious threat posed by the Naxals in the area.
The confiscated items included large amounts of ammonia nitrate, sulfur powder, gunpowder, plastic and aluminum pipes, cans, petrol, a grinder machine, and 21 arrows intended for creating arrow bombs.
This discovery highlights the extensive Naxal presence in the Kolhan forest division and follows their recent movements from the neighboring Saranda forest early in 2023.
The rugged terrain and the insurgents’ sophisticated tactics have posed significant challenges, yet the combined forces have displayed exceptional courage and determination.
To date, these forces have successfully neutralized over a hundred IEDs, preventing numerous potential attacks and ensuring the safety of both civilians and security personnel.
This breakthrough is a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat extremism and restore peace and stability to the region.
