This meeting saw attendance from leaders of ruling parties, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and for the first time, Amar Kumar Bauri as the leader of the opposition.
BJP and other opposition members previously attended the assembly without an official opposition leader for the last four years.
During Thursday’s meeting, Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato emphasized the importance of cooperation from all parties for smooth proceedings.
Discussions included the conduct of House proceedings and an increase in security following recent Parliament incidents.
The meeting also saw the presence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam, Minister Satyanand Bhokta, MLAs Vinod Singh and Lambodar Mahato, although Independent MLA Saryu Rai was absent.
Post-meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, alongside the Assembly Speaker, escorted the new Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri to his chamber, marking a significant moment for Jharkhand’s political landscape.
Bawri expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth session and effectively representing public concerns in the state’s "biggest Panchayat."
The upcoming session, symbolizing a strengthened democratic process with a formal opposition leader, is expected to address key issues and enhance public representation in the state’s governance.
