JAMSHEDPUR – Police seized a large illegal cough syrup consignment in Jugsalai after acting on a tip-off about drug trafficking.

Police conducted a raid in Jugsalai under the wider Jamshedpur region following secret inputs about narcotics movement. The action targeted a transport agency suspected of handling illegal consignments.

During the operation, officers recovered around 20 boxes of Onrex cough syrup. However, this medicine is often misused for intoxication purposes.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed the consignment lacked valid documents at the site. Moreover, no individual present could provide ownership proof.

Police stated the shipment originated from Ranchi. In contrast, its intended delivery location remains unclear.

One individual was detained from the spot for questioning. Meanwhile, investigators are identifying others linked to the network.

Officials suspect a wider supply chain may be involved. Moreover, authorities are checking links to inter-district drug distribution networks.

The case is being processed under the NDPS Act. However, further legal action will depend on investigation findings.

Local residents expressed concern over such illegal activities. Meanwhile, police intensified vigilance in nearby areas including Parsudih and Bagbera.

Authorities indicated more arrests may follow soon. Moreover, further disclosures are expected during interrogation.
