JAMSHEDPUR – Zonal IG Akhilesh Jha held a crucial meeting with district police officials on Thursday, addressing the city’s rising crime rates and road accident fatalities.
"We’re concerned about the increase in crimes like robbery and snatching in 2024," Jha was reported saying during the meeting at police headquarters.
The IG expressed displeasure over the surge in road accident deaths, providing insights on accident-prone zones.
Kolhan DIG Manoj Ratan Chauthe, SSP Kishore Kaushal, and Rural SP Rishabh Garg attended the meeting.
"Senior officials discussed strategies to mitigate accidents and reduce crime rates," a police source commented after the session.
Jha highlighted the Supreme Court’s attention to road accident fatalities, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
Despite improved crime control in 2023, officials noted a recent uptick in certain criminal activities.
The IG issued specific directives to all DSPs and police station in-charges on crime reduction measures.
Jha was welcomed with a guard of honor upon his arrival at the police headquarters.
