JRD Tata’s 119th Birth Anniversary Celebrated with Grandeur in Jamshedpur

Tata Steel hosts various events at its sites to commemorate JRD Tata’s 119th birthday, highlighting his vision for a digital India.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel honoured Bharat Ratna JRD Tata on the occasion of his 119th birthday today, by hosting a variety of events for the local community at all of its operational sites, including sports, quizzes, an aero modelling competition, a walkathon, and other activities.

The dignitaries and staff of Tata Steel and other Group enterprises paid homage to JRD Tata at Sonari Airport in Jamshedpur and several other places.

Aero Modelling Show and Walkathon

The primary event at Gopal Maidan, the Aero Modelling Show, mesmerised the crowds who flocked there in great numbers to commemorate the anniversary.

The JRD Tata Sports Complex hosted a morning walkathon that was available to all Jamshedpur residents. Around 400 people participated in the event.

Digital India Vision

The focus of this year’s festivities is JRD Tata, his aspirations for a digital India, and how he played a key role in building the groundwork for the start of the digital age in the nation.

Tata Steel has continually embraced cutting-edge technology as a crucial component of its corporate culture, an achievement made possible by the visionary leadership of JRD.

Other noteworthy occasions

On July 28 at Michael John Auditorium, the Tata Steel Centre for Excellence also sponsored a quiz for students. On July 27 in the Baridih Community Centre, the Tata Steel Foundation hosted a bodybuilding competition, and today at the Nandup Football Ground in Sundarnagar, it hosted a football tournament.

To commemorate the anniversary, the JRD Tata Sports Complex hosted an athletic competition for transgender personnel on July 27.

Tata Steel’s Chief Diversity Officer, Jaya S. Panda, served as the event’s chief guest.

In addition, the Corporate Communications department held writing and photography competitions for media professionals.

JRD’s innovative leadership and approachable management style continue to inspire millions of Indians and young people worldwide.

JRD, a pioneering aviator and philanthropist, served as Tata Steel’s chairman for the longest period of time (1938–1984).
