JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Workers’ College Management has taken a stern view of the decision of the students to attend their classes wearing helmets to protest the condition of the college building. The college management has locked the classroom and said that the students should not attend the classes wearing helmets as it is harming the reputation of the college.

The principal of Jamshedpur Workers College acknowledged the building’s poor condition but criticized the students’ helmet protest. Dr. SP Mahalik stated that while concerns about the building’s safety are valid, wearing helmets in class tarnishes the institute’s reputation. He revealed that a request for repairs had already been submitted to the authorities. The college, established in 1959 and part of Kolhan University, has faced scrutiny for not maintaining its infrastructure, raising concerns among students and faculty about safety.

Following the spread of a video showcasing students attending classes in helmets, the college management decided to lock the affected classroom. They issued a stern warning to students against wearing helmets in class, threatening disciplinary actions. This move came as a direct response to the students’ attempt to draw attention to the perilous state of the classrooms through social media.

Students at Jamshedpur Workers College took to wearing helmets in class as a form of protest after parts of the ceiling fell during a session. They expressed fears for their safety, citing the college’s inaction despite previous complaints. The incident, which occurred last Saturday in room number 37, fortunately resulted in no injuries, highlighting the urgency for repairs to prevent potential accidents.

The trigger for this unusual protest was when a ceiling chunk fell in one of the classrooms during a lesson, luckily causing no injuries. Despite students reporting the incident, the college’s lack of response led to their innovative demonstration. Jamshedpur Workers College, situated in Mango, Jamshedpur, has been the focus of concern due to its deteriorating infrastructure, prompting students to demand immediate attention to avoid any mishaps.
