JAMSHEDPUR – Hundreds of members of the Bhumij community descended on Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar’s residential office at Turamdihi with drums and fanfare on Tuesday to celebrate a landmark decision. The Jharkhand government has included the Bhumij language in the J-TET 2026 examination, a move seen as a historic milestone for the community.

The delegation welcomed the MLA with garlands and felicitated him warmly at his office. The occasion was marked by considerable enthusiasm and a festive atmosphere.

Members of the delegation said Sanjeev Sardar had consistently raised the community’s voice for its rights, dignity, and identity. They credited his persistent efforts for the historic recognition now accorded to the Bhumij language in the field of education.

“This decision will open new doors for our youth to advance in their own mother tongue,” said a delegation member.

On the occasion, MLA Sanjeev Sardar reaffirmed his commitment to the community’s cause. “The inclusion of Bhumij language in J-TET is the result of a long and sustained struggle,” he said. “It will give a new direction to education for our community.”

He assured those present that he would continue working for the community’s development, education, and rights with the same dedication.

The J-TET, or Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, is the state’s primary qualifying examination for teacher recruitment. The inclusion of Bhumij as an eligible language medium is expected to significantly benefit young aspirants from the community seeking teaching positions.

Several prominent community members were present at the felicitation. These included Uday Sardar, Deepak Sardar, Phulchand Sardar, Bharat Sardar, Gopinath Sardar, Majohar Sardar, Sanjay Sardar, Lal Sardar, village head Bhugnu Sardar, Madhu Sardar, Bihari Lal Sardar, and mukhiya Kali Pado Sardar, among others.

The Bhumij community is one of the prominent tribal communities of Jharkhand. The recognition of their language in a state-level competitive examination has been welcomed as an important step towards preserving and promoting tribal linguistic heritage.
