Bokaro School Student Allegedly ‘Beaten’ for Wearing ‘Kalawa’

A student in Bokaro Thermal, Bokaro, is allegedly physically assaulted for wearing a ‘kalawa’, a Hindu religious thread, sparking outrage among local Hindu organizations.

BOKARO – In an alarming incident, Karan Kumar, a Class IX student of Carmel School, Bokaro Thermal, in Bokaro District, was allegedly physically and mentally tortured by school management and a teacher.

As per media reports, the student claims that he was beaten for wearing a ‘kalawa’, a Hindu religious thread, around his wrist.

The school administration also informed the student that he was only allowed to return to school after bringing his father.

After the incident, Karan informed his family members who then reached out to local Hindu organizations.

Vinay Kushwaha, minister of Dhanbad department of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, along with other members of the organization, visited the school demanding action against the accused teacher.

According to the media reports, the school headmistress, however, allegedly claimed ignorance of the incident.

Vinay Kumar, a minister of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, stated that they met with the school management and demanded the immediate expulsion of the teacher.

The school management asked for a day’s time to address the issue and has called back the members of the Hindu organization to school the following day.

This incident comes in the wake of another shockinng incident in which a girl student was allegedly punished in Dhanbad for wearing a Bindi in the school. She allegedly committed suicide blaming the school and the concerned teacher and principal for driving her to take the drastic step of ending her life.
