State committee investigates ongoing thefts despite high security measures
The state government’s initiative to probe thefts in liquor outlets across Ranchi and Jamshedpur aims to uncover potential systemic flaws or conspiracies.
JAMSHEDPUR – A special committee is now scrutinizing the security arrangements of liquor stores in Jamshedpur and Ranchi.
The investigation was prompted by persistent thefts despite the employment of a private security firm.
With around 150 liquor shops in Jamshedpur and 170 in Ranchi, the concern for security is significant.
The government has tasked a four-member team to delve into these security breaches.
They aim to discover if these incidents indicate a larger underlying issue. Despite the security company GDX receiving Rs 18,000 per guard from the government, thefts continue.
Guards themselves are compensated Rs 15,000, raising questions about the efficiency and integrity of the security measures in place.
The excise department’s involvement in forming this committee underscores the seriousness of the situation.
By examining the security systems and investigating potential scams, the government seeks to ensure the safety and integrity of liquor distribution in these areas.
