Jamshedpur sets sights on a top-20 ranking in the national Cleanliness Survey 2023, with key officials heading to Delhi for the results announcement.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Cleanliness Survey 2023 results, set to be announced in Delhi on January 11, are highly anticipated by Jamshedpur, expected to rank among the top-20 cities in India.

Officials from JNAC, led by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ravi Prakash, will attend the event in Delhi on January 11.

The team includes City Manager Christina Kachhap, Solid Waste Management Expert Saurabh Kumar, and others from Jamshedpur’s civic administration.

Representatives from Tata Steel UISL and local municipal bodies like Mango and Jugsalai will also be present.

Jamshedpur’s previous rankings in the survey have been commendable, securing 18th place nationally last year and 12th in 2021.

In addition to the ranking expectations, Jamshedpur has achieved the ODF Plus-Plus and Three Star ratings in the Garbage Free City category for the third time.

The survey, consisting of 9500 marks, evaluated aspects like garbage collection, disposal, and public cleanliness.

JNAC, aiming for a five-star status, achieved a three-star rating due to its effective waste management practices.

The Mango Municipal Corporation received a one-star rating.

Key factors contributing to Jamshedpur’s rating include door-to-door garbage collection, public area cleanliness, and innovative waste management initiatives.

With the launch of the Cleanliness Survey 2024, JNAC is already preparing for the next evaluation, focusing on the theme of Re-cycle, Re-use, and Re-use (RRR).

The results of the 8th edition of the world’s largest urban cleanliness survey are about to be revealed, generating great anticipation. These results will determine the cleanest cities in urban India.

The winners of SwachhSurvekshan will be honored by President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in a national event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at Bharat Mandapam on January 11, 2024.

More than 110 awards will be presented across a range of categories at the event. More than 20 awards will be presented in the National category alone. In addition, States will receive recognition and awards based on their performances in different categories.

The SwachhSurvekshan (SS) initiative has ignited a spirit of healthy competition among cities, driving them to improve urban sanitation and deliver superior services to their residents.

The SwachhSurvekshan has grown significantly since its inception, expanding from an initial assessment of 73 major cities in 2016 to now covering 4,477 cities in the latest edition.

The focus of this year’s clean city awards is on tackling the issue of legacy dumpsites, effectively managing plastic waste, promoting the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and prioritizing the safety of SafaiMitras.

The SS 2023 initiative had a strong emphasis on converting waste into valuable resources, and it underwent a thorough evaluation by a team of more than 3,000 assessors.

The success of the survey can be attributed to its focus on citizen engagement and feedback. The survey encompassed a population of approximately 409 million in total.

An astounding 120 million citizen responses were received during the assessment this year, indicating an unparalleled level of engagement across multiple platforms.

Get ready to witness a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art equipment in waste management at Bharat Manadapam on January 11, 2024.

The venue of the SwachhSurvekshan awards will be buzzing with visitors who will be captivated by the mechanical sweeping machines, sewage cleaning robots, and waste collection and transport vehicles.

In addition to this, visitors can also purchase products made from recycled materials at the exhibition! Self Help Groups will showcase their creative products made from waste through vibrant stalls.

The event will be environmentally friendly, with no paper waste.

More than 3,000 participants are expected to attend the award ceremony, which will include Urban Development Ministers, Mayors from different regions of the country, State and city administrators, sector partners, subject experts, youth organizations, industry representatives, startups in the sanitation and waste management sector, academic institutions, NGOs, CSOs, SafaiMitras, Self Help Groups, and more.

The SwachhSurvekshan Awards not only recognize the clean cities that come out on top, but also commend the cities that have taken notable steps and implemented different measures to create garbage-free environments.

Cities across the nation are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the winners of the 8th edition of SwachhSurvekshan on January 11, 2024. After a year of dedicated effort, intense competition, and a strong commitment to cleanliness, the anticipation is palpable.
