RANCHI – The Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a six-member inquiry committee to investigate an incident that took place in Murhu, Khunti district, during Ram Navami celebrations. The committee was formed on the directive of BJP Jharkhand state president Aditya Sahu.
The party described the incident as extremely serious and unfortunate. A statement issued by the party said the committee would conduct a fair and factual investigation into the entire matter.
The six-member panel is scheduled to visit Murhu on March 31, 2026. Members will interact with local residents at the site of the incident to ascertain the ground reality and gather first-hand accounts.
The BJP said the probe was aimed at ensuring an impartial assessment of the sequence of events. The committee is expected to submit its findings to the party leadership after completing its on-ground inquiry.
Ram Navami has seen communal tension and incidents at various locations across Jharkhand and other states in recent years. The Murhu incident drew immediate attention from the BJP state leadership.
BJP Jharkhand president Aditya Sahu has been actively directing the party’s response to law and order concerns across the state. Earlier, opposition parties have repeatedly raised concerns over the state government’s handling of public order situations in Jharkhand.
The BJP has maintained that the state government failed to take adequate preventive measures ahead of the Ram Navami processions. The inquiry committee’s report is expected to form the basis of the party’s formal demands from the administration.
