JAMSHEDPUR — A seminar titled “Demystifying AI” was held on April 4, 2026, for 270 teachers, principals, vice principals and coordinators of JEM Foundation Schools and College, in a significant move to bring artificial intelligence into mainstream education.
The initiative was conceived by Mrs. Ruchi Narendran, Managing Trustee of JEM Foundation. Her stated vision was to prepare educators for a rapidly evolving digital landscape and to build a future-ready teaching community across the foundation’s institutions.
The seminar was led by two senior officials from Tata Steel — Mr. Jayanta Banerjee, Chief Information Officer, and Mr. Soummo Bose, Chief AI Officer. Both brought deep domain knowledge and practical perspectives on the role of artificial intelligence in modern education.
The session covered three principal areas. First, it introduced AI as a collaborative tool rather than a replacement for human effort. Second, it explored methods for integrating AI into the teaching-learning process. Third, it dealt with prompt engineering — the skill of framing effective queries to draw the best outcomes from AI systems.
The central message running through the seminar was the transformative potential of AI in shifting mindsets from competition to collaboration. Moreover, the event underlined JEM Foundation’s stated commitment to innovation in education and to equipping its teaching staff with the knowledge and tools required to function effectively in an AI-driven world.
